NSP was born in 2001 from the vision of Bruce “Buzz” Hansen.
While working on Maui as a surfboard shaper, he had an idea about producing affordable, versatile, durable and great-performing surfboards for everyday surfers that didn’t require custom dimensions.

Buzz summoned his friends working for a leading composites manufacturer and introduced a new epoxy technology to revolutionise the industry. Recreational surfers no longer had to rely on the ill-performing “foamies” or be relegated to the used board market.

His dream was to produce an excellent performing surfboard that could ride in the back of a pick-up truck, be left in the sun or loaned to a friend without fear of damage.

In 2007 NSP was one of the first brands to produce SUPs based on the brand’s original concept of performance and value.
Since 2013 NSP has produced some of the fastest SUP race boards on the planet, quickly racking up some of the most sought-after and prestigious titles with the help of national and international athletes.
Our core values have remained the same for almost 20 years, with hundreds of thousands of boards produced. NSP stays true to the vision of creating great performing, affordable, durable surf and paddle boards that allow everyone to catch more waves.

Today, NSP is one of the world’s largest brands in recreational surfing and stand-up paddle boards. Every day new enthusiasts, young and old, go out and introduce their friends and family to the freedom of the sport and the brand.

At NSP we respect the environment and the world we play in. We are constantly looking for new ideas and innovative technologies to reduce the negative impact on our planet as we build our boards. We adhere to the fundamental principle that every product produced must have some form of an environmentally sustainable component, whether it’s our CocoFlax technology, EPS core, recycled traction pads, bio-friendly resins, or packaging. Surfing has been around for hundreds of years, and we want to see it for another couple thousand.

Greenlite is an alternative to glass fibre. These pure-cellulose based fibres are bio-based and bio-degradable.

Polyester resins can be potentially carcinogenic to humans. NSP use Greenpoxy resin with 52% of the molecular structure from plant origin.
Greenpoxy maintains superb colour, clarity, and consistency, perfect for high-performance composite finishes.

In keeping with our pledge to pursue sustainable materials and manufacturing, NSP introduced the award-winning CocoMat technology, the world’s first and only Patent Pending construction that uses natural fibres from coconut husks and Flax Fiber Rails.
The use of these natural materials reduces the use of fibreglass and the overall carbon footprint of the production process

NSP boards have a Secure Cell EPS core produced inside a mould, thereby reducing the amount of waste produced by 95%.

All of the NSP packaging is plastic-free with paper tape.
For these reasons and many more, NSP Surfboards and their factory have won a ton of awards for their efforts in sustainability.
